AUCTION TO SUPPORT LOCAL MASONIC SCHOLARSHIP

By Amity Masonic Lodge #6 | Jul 28, 2010

An auction of several well known artists and artisans' works will be held August 13th at the Rockport Masonic Center. According to Steve Pixley of St. Paul's Masonic Lodge, this is the first ever auction held at the center and the support of our local artists and artisans has been just great.

Steve summed the need for the auction up in one phrase, "The cost of education is expensive, what is the cost of ignorance?" To that end Steve and other lodge members have been busy seeking out donations and readying for the auction. The committee has gathered works from such local notables as; Buckley Smith, Linda Norton, Jane McKeen, Abbie Nugent, Rick Smith, Anne Kilham, Debbie Pixley, Chris Vandusen, Ben Magro, Noah Magro, Allison Langley, Josefiens Kooyenga, Ducktrap Trading, Brandon Kimble, Tina Devo, Small Wonder Gallery, Mary Jan Doubleday, Greg Currier, Neal Zobo, Sam Manning and Tom Cox.

Steve wants people to know that there is something available for everyone, with items as diverse and eclectic as hand sculptured earrings, original artworks, prints and hand turned lathe items.

The Scholarship Auction will be held at the Rockport Masonic Center  August 13th with a showing starting at 6pm. During the showing you are encouraged to enjoy a stringed quartet and partake of  local cheeses and an assortment of wines. The auction will begin at 645pm with parker Laite Sr. doing the auctioneer duties for the evening.

The Masonic Center is located at 361 Main Street in Rockport, which is just up the road from the Simonton's corner 4-way stop. FMI please call Steve at 691-4314 or Jeff at 236-3950.
