Conflict Resolution in Relationships course offered in Belfast
Belfast. Many people tend to avoid dealing with conflicts because they are not sure how to deal with conflict. Gaining some skills in understanding and responding to conflict in a respectful and positive way is personally very encouraging. It is also a way to promote "civility," which seems to be in short supply right now. Given the tone in Washington, Conflict Resolution is needed more than ever.
The University of Maine Hutchinson Center is offering the college course: PAX 360 / 598, Conflict Resolution In Relationship in the upcoming Fall Semester 2011 on four Saturdays (Sept. 17, Oct. 1. Oct. 15, Oct. 29) from 8:30-4:00, with two on-line sessions.
This three-credit University course is offered in a weekend format to accommodate working people and full-time students. It can be taken for either undergraduate credit (PAX 360) or graduate credit (PAX 598). The primary goal will be developing the fundamental insights and skills needed to understand and resolve conflicts, whether in personal, workplace or professional relationships. Each week will offer discussion and ample practice in components of effective communication, appreciating social diversity, and use of such current techniques as the Circle Process. The format of the course allows each student to apply the materials to an area of interest in their personal or professional life.
