GO Logic to Present Student Passive House Project at Unity College Centre for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, February 8

Unity, Maine – January 25, 2011 –  Belfast, Maine based GO Logic’s award winning architect Matthew O’Malia and Alan Gibson, Principal, will be offering a presentation about the innovative student passive house project at Unity College on Tuesday, February 8, at 6 p.m., Unity College Centre for the Performing Arts, 42 Depot Street (off Route 202) in Unity, Maine. 

     A first of its kind project for colleges or universities in the United States, the first student residence hall based on the Passive House concept is being designed by GO Logic and Ann Kearsley of Ann Kearsley Design of Portland, Maine, for Unity College with input from faculty, students and staff.   Admission is free and open to the general public.

     The student passive house design project at Unity College is one of the most cutting-edge building projects ever attempted on a college or university campus in the United States.  O’Malia and Gibson will outline the project to date and discuss the Passive House concept, the highest energy performance standards for building.

     O’Malia is an architect and two time New England American Institute of Architects Design Excellence Award winning designer at Elliott Elliott Norelius Architecture.

     Gibson is a carpenter, building designer, building energy analyst, and general contractor specializing in custom, energy efficient home construction.

     The Lapping Lecture Series of which this presentation is a part is named in honor of former Interim President of Unity College Mark Lapping.
