Scholarships Available for College at the Hutchinson Center
Belfast. Thinking of a better or new job? Are you thinking that college may be your answer? Then think of the UMaine Hutchinson Center. The University of Maine Frederick Hutchinson Center (FHC) in Belfast is pleased to announce the availability of various scholarships for the Spring 2012 semester. Many classes begin the week of January 9. The deadline to submit your scholarship application is December 27th. You can download a copy of the scholarship application at the Hutchinson Center website.
If you would like to begin or continue college, but feel that your financial situation just won’t allow you to do so, stop by to talk to our advisor and pick up the application form that best fit your needs. Free advising, career planning and assistance with financial aid forms are available and there is still time to register for Fall classes. So, what are you waiting for? Some examples of scholarships available to Hutchinson Center students include:
• The Shirley and Ron Jarvella scholarship, an award given to eligible students who are a single head of household and also a part time University of Maine student taking classes at The Hutchinson Center.
• The Fred Hutchinson Scholarship, an award for eligible first time or part time non-degree students.
• The Harris J. and Ann B. Bixler Scholarship, which awards eligible students towards a Hutchinson Center undergraduate course and up to eight hundred dollars for a graduate level course.
•The Andrew E. Kuby Jr. Memorial Scholarship, a five hundred dollar scholarship for eligible students who are pursuing a higher education but do not have regular financial assistance or employee reimbursement to do so.
• The United Mid-Coast Charities Annual Fund and Best of the Best Scholarships which award eligible non-degree students scholarships towards a Hutchinson Center undergraduate or graduate level course.
• Senior College at the Hutchinson Center is offering two scholarships for a Hutchinson Center student 35 years of age or older who is continuing their education up to $1,000 a year.
• Midcoast AAUW (American Association of University Women) offers a scholarship for fist-time college students and for those who have been out of college for a while, to cover the cost of one initial college class including tuition, fees, books and required materials at the UMaine Hutchinson Center.
