FREE Pregnancy Massage Clinic!
The Downeast School of Massage, Waldoboro, is holding its' biannual Pregnancy Massage Clinic for women in all stages of pregnancy on August 17, 2010 at 2PM. The Touch Research Institute of the University of Miami, Florida, has completed studies on massage and pregnancy. As reported by research scientist, Dr. Tiffany Field, at the AMTA Council of School meeting in Tucson, Arizona, "Regular massage for the pregnant woman reduces chances of premature birth, promotes circulation to mother and baby, and reduces labor time and labor discomfort!" The clinic is provided free, and offers supervised massage specific to the needs of pregnant women. "Students are more than prepared to work with this special target group, said Nancy Dail, Director of DSM. Pregnancy massage rounds out their program of over 600 in-classroom hours. It enhances their skills and prepares them for their practice after graduation." The clinic is being offered on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 2PM. All clinic clients are asked to complete a medical history questionnaire and are screened for contraindications.
