World Communion Sunday will be celebrated at the John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John Street, Camden, during its 10:30 am worship service, October 2.
The public is invited to join the service, a world-wide tradition established over 70 years ago, intended to signal Protestant ecclesial unity in the face of political strife and uncertainty. In today's world of upheaval, World Communion makes a strong statement of unity.
A procession of bearers will enter the sanctuary with bread from Mexico, China, the State of Maine, the Middle East, africa, France Italy, Russia, the Native Americans and the World. The congregation may select blessed bread from the region of their own choice to dip in the Cup.
