Little Learners Vision & Philosophy

At Little Learners Child Care we stimulate children’s minds and imaginations through play-based programming and the belief that play is a child’s work. We nurture each child by compassionately respecting individuality and by creating a positive early childhood experience. Our well trained and experienced staff members provide a safe, nurturing, and fun educational environment.

Communication is very important to us at Little Learners. It is our firm belief that you, as parents, are your child’s first and best teacher. You are the most influential person in your child’s life. We can partner with you, but never take your place. We hope you share openly any concerns or questions that may arise. When you have a concern, we ask that you let us know immediately. We can always improve. Working together as a team is our goal.

One of our greatest assets here at Little Learners is our experienced staff. All staff (excluding substitutes) are required to have a degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or similar area. Anyone hired without a degree is required to receive a CDA (Child Development Associate) within two years, or start taking classes working towards a degree. Once hired all staff are required to complete 40 hours of continuing education annually. Staff are supervised by the program manager and have yearly evaluations.

Little Learners Child Care is a year-round, full-day program serving children from the ages of 3 months through age 5. We are fully licensed by the Maine Department of Human Services. We are also certified by the Oregon Environmental Council as an Healthy Child Care to ensure that our facilities are as healthy, safe and green as possible.
