Cub Scout Pack 235 from Stockton Springs held its Pinewood Derby at Stockton Springs Elementary School this past Saturday, February 26, 2011. Pack 235 invited Stockton's Girl Scout Troop 487 (which comprises Daisy, Brownie, Junior and Cadet Scouts) to join in the fun. The cars - ranging from hot rods to fire engines, lady bugs and a replica of the car from "Back to the Future" - all weighed in at the proper 5 ounce limit and measured within the strict size guidelines. A lucky thirteen cars took to the track. Six trophies were given out. Three trophies for the fastest three cars in the boys' division and one trophy for the fastest car in the Guest (girls') division. Two trophies were given for peer-nominated "Best in Show" - one each for the boys' and the girls' division (with the boys voting on the girls' entries and girls voting on the boys'.) The top three fastest cars for the Cub Scouts were: 1. Ellis Braga, 2. Stephen Perkins, 3. Andrew Donald. Jacey Nicole Bock, a Daisy Girl Scout, took first place in the guest division with her "Black Phantom" race car. The "Best in Show" trophies went to Ellis Braga's hot rod for the Cub Scouts and Cassie Donald - whose "Wii Remote" car made a big stir - for the Girl Scouts. Congratulations to all the Scouts, girls and boys, who participated in this fun event.
