Linda Burton, Chairman of the Searsmont Town Committee, has announced that the Searsmont Republicans will caucus on Saturday, February 4 th , 2012, 9:00 A.M. at the location of the Troy Howard Middle School, 173 Lincolnville Ave., Belfast, Maine 04915-7402.

The purpose of the caucus is to elect Delegates and Alternates to the State Convention, Elect members of the Waldo County Republican Committee, and organize for the upcoming elections. All Searsmont Republicans are urged to attend this pivotal event.

An exciting addition to this 2012 Caucus is the conduction of a Presidential Preference Survey Ballot or often referred to as a Straw Poll. It is your opportunity to voice your presidential candidate preference as a Maine voter to the elected Delegates who will represent you in Augusta at the 2012 Maine Republican State Convention. Please note: The results of the Presidential Preference Survey Ballot are non-binding. The survey is being conducted to gauge support for the presidential candidates. You may vote for any person.

The state party will be compiling and reporting the results from every official town caucus in Maine for publicity purposes only. The announcement of the Presidential Straw Poll results will be made on February 11, 2012.

The Republican State Convention will be held in Augusta, Maine on Saturday, May 5 th and Sunday, May 6 th . The caucus is an excellent opportunity for local Republicans to meet and speak with those who are running for office. * Searsmont Republicans interested in attending the State Convention as either a Delegate or Alternate please contact Linda Burton, Chairman.

Note to the Editor: According to Maine Law, Title 21A, Section 311-3, "…a notice of the caucus published in a newspaper having general circulation in the municipality at least 3 and not more than 7 days before it is to be held…" Please contact me if there will be any problem having this notice published as required by Maine Law.
