Waldoboro — Shelley Pease, owner of Shelley's Flowers and Gifts in Waldoboro, was one of the highlighted floral designers at the State of Maine Agricultural Show. The public show is held annually at the Civic Center in Augusta, during the third week of January. The trade show is open to the public and highlights all phases of agriculture in Maine.
On stage before the public, Shelley demonstrated the use of fresh flowers in creative everyday arrangements and unique high-styled designs, all of which she creates and features in her Waldoboro store.
Shelley recently celebrated the achievement of having her flower shop business located in Waldoboro for twenty-three years. She believes in staying current with her chosen career. From the start, she has been actively involved in the floral industry at a national level, having served a double term as the State's Teleflora President and has been appointed to work on many committees. She is currently President Elect of the Maine State Florists and Growers. Her term of office is slated to begin in March. She belongs to the Waldoboro Business Group and believes in active participation and volunteering locally. Shelley also encourages her staff to pursue education through the flower industry and to work at their other interests as well. Her staff attends available workshops throughout the year to study floral industry trends. They include certified floral designers, Teleflora scholarship winners, wedding consultants and customer relations.
