A Rural Life for ME

Searsport — Author and personal historian Meghan Vigeant will share stories and play audio recordings about Maine's hardscrabble rural life Wednesday, March 29, at 6:30 p.m. in Penobscot Marine Museum’s Stephen Phillips Memorial Library, 9 Church St.

In her free presentation, titled A Rural Life for ME: Stories from Maine Elders, Vigeant will share stories gathered from the elder larger-than-life characters and tricksters she has worked with over the years. The tales range from building a cabin in the back woods for only $97 to how to mend a broken leg on a remote island.

These true stories are touching, funny and sure to entertain, as well as inform anyone who wants to save someone's story.
