Alleged domestic situation gets heated in Frankfort
Frankfort — A Belfast man was arrested on charges stemming from an alleged incident at a Frankfort residence Friday night, Oct. 5, during which police say he ignited a fire in the home.
Lucas Perrigo, 29, of Belfast was arrested on charges of domestic assault, terrorizing and arson following a series of events that began just before 11:30 p.m. at a residence on Loon Lane.
Waldo County Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton said the trouble started when Perrigo and a female were arguing over money.
"He wanted money, she wouldn't give him any," said Trafton.
Trafton said that was when Perrigo allegedly pulled the woman from the couch where she was sitting and the pulled out a handful of her hair. As the two continued to argue, Trafton said Perrigo tried to cut his wrists and then entered a bedroom, where he allegedly set the curtains on fire.
"Then after he helped [the victim] put the fire out he took off," said Trafton.
Trafton said officers used a K-9 to help track Perrigo down and he was apprehended not far from the residence.
The alleged victim was not seriously hurt, Trafton said.
Perrigo is scheduled to appear at Waldo County Superior Court in Belfast Thursday, Nov. 29.
