Belfast — Seriously Altered Books is the focus of Waterfall Arts’ February school vacation art camp, which will run Monday through Friday, Feb. 17 to 21, from 9 a.m. to noon. An altered book is a form of mixed media artwork that changes a book from its original form into a different form, altering its appearance and/or meaning. Arts educator Bridget Matros will lead the group in different methods of giving books new life as art objects.

The fee for the art camp, open to students age 9 to 12, is $140, all materials included. Space is limited; enrollments are taken on a first come, first served basis. A welcome grant from United Midcoast Charities provides partial scholarships for those who qualify for financial assistance. To register and for more information on scholarships, classes, studio rentals, exhibitions and events, visit waterfallarts.org. Office hours at Waterfall Arts, 256 High St., are Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
