An opera house of Belfast's own

Jul 24, 2012

Belfast — Our Own Opera House, Belfast!, a project of Arts for All/Maine, Inc., has launched a website — ooohbelfast.com — and invites the public in the Waldo County area and beyond to participate in its efforts to gather memories and mementos of the Belfast Opera House.

The goal is to document the 90 or so years (nearly five generations) the opera house served as the cultural center of Waldo County, showcasing many local events and bringing national and international attractions here from away. Interested parties can post comments and/or upload files to the site, as well as schedule live audio or video interviews, all of which will be put together and presented as a DVD added to the Belfast Free Library's collection. There is will be available to the public for all to share and remember and, perhaps, build on for the future.
