Annual Benefit Auction for Hospice Volunteers is Coming Up
On Saturday, October 19th, Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County (HVOWC) will host its annual Benefit Auction, featuring live music, good eats, a silent auction, and the much-anticipated live auction which features spectacular, eclectic - even edible! - items every year.
Recently named “Best of the Best: Community Organization” in the 2013 VillageSoup The People’s Choice contest, Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County provides non-medical caregiving for patients and families at the end of life and bereavement support to anyone in Waldo County who suffered a loss of loved one. All services are free of charge and serve people in all the 26 towns of Waldo County.
The silent auction – with gift certificates, memberships, baskets and unique treasures – will go from 5 to 7 p.m. Entertainment and refreshments are Clayton Clementson on piano and food by Delvino’s. The live auction begins at 7 p.m., and Rosey Gerry will run it as he does every year, with great style and panache.
Live auction items so far include: estate jewelry, Barbies (still in their box!), original artwork, Willy Reddick's famous pie, a handmade quilt, a motorized recliner, outdoor services, JoePete (yes, he is auctioning himself), dinnerware and china, and...a goat. And that's just the beginning!
The Hospice Benefit Auction begins at 5 p.m., and will take place at UMaine Hutchinson Center, Route 3 in Belfast (80 Belmont Ave.). Suggested donation for attendance: $5-10.
