The following area teachers were named unsung heroes in the Saint Michael's College Teacher Recognition Program. The teachers were nominated by former students who are now first-year students at Saint Michael's College.

Timothy Doran of Belfast Area High School was named by Allison James who said "Dr. Doran has a true passion for educating students, which radiates throughout the entire school community. He goes above and beyond to recognize and treat each student as the individuals they are. Mr. Doran makes each school day special and memorable and I could not imagine my high school career without his presence."

Diana Leighton of Belfast Area High School was named by Allison James who said "Mrs. Leighton deserves recognition as she is the most kind, compassionate and understanding teacher. She goes above and beyond dedicating time and effort to make sure each individual student understands the material. Mrs. Leighton also makes the most delicious chocolate chip cookies."
