Art, music and more at the Post Office
Belfast — Everyone is invited to enjoy a Final Friday evening of art, music and design at the working studios of Belfast Bay Shade Company and Colibri Architects May 30 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on the second floor of the downtown Belfast Post Office building.
Carol Stenberg's photographs, taken during her world travels, will be on display, as will Dina Petrillo's Creatura Botanica fine art prints series among mixed media encaustic works. The historic venue will come alive with the funky and soulful fiddle music of Wes Cotton and friends.
With the simplicity and careful craftsmanship of American folk art, the instant illumination of Japanese akari lanterns and the flare of bold Italian botanical design, Petrillo of Belfast Bay offers fine art lampshades on upcycled and handcrafted lamps with a fusion aesthetic that transforms the spaces they inhabit. Also transforming are the designs of Colibri Architects that, said Stenberg of Colibri, bring the traditional Maine vernacular together with cutting edge technology, melding architectural beauty with energy efficiency.
The Post Office Studio Workshop is open for Friday night art walks through the summer, most days and by appointment. On Final Fridays, visitors can enjoy artisanal local cheeses, meats and pickled treats.
