”The day of carrying the mail from Lincolnville to Islesboro' has been changed from Thursday to Friday, so that the Journal will get on to the Island the day that it is published, instead of remaining a week in the Lincolnville office. The Journal will now give later news to the inhabitants of that Island than can be obtained from any other paper. Will our friends there procure for us an addition to our list of subscribers?”

Lyceum

"Hon. Joseph Williamson will deliver the fifth lecture before the Belfast Lyceum at the Unitarian Church, on Tuesday evening next, at 7 o'clock. Wm. O. Poor, Sec'y."

”Although the ground is white with snow there are several appearances of spring, notably the boys playing marbles, flounders in the market, the dandelion fleet of coasters coming out of winter quarters, and 'Dr.' Staples selling spring bitters about the streets.”

”Dyer's dock is full of vessels undergoing repairs. Sch. A. Hayford, which was damaged by going ashore at Vineyard Haven, in a recent gale, is receiving an overhauling. Schrs. Emma Green and Fannie Butler, of Bangor, are also being repaired.”

Belfast Observation Post

"The building to be used as an observation centre, corner of Main and High streets, has been delayed in construction because of the extreme weather during the past ten days. Work will be resumed as soon as possible and the building made ready. There are still a few vacancies in the three hour shifts and the chief observer would be glad to receive the names of those who will act as substitutes. Anyone wishing to offer their services may call 645-W."

"Once in every generation comes a great picture... Now it is 'Yankee Doodle Dandy' the most glorious story of America's No. 1 actor George M. Cohan. The film stars James Cagney as 'Cohan' and Joan Leslie — Walter Huston and will be shown at the COLONIAL THEATRE today, tomorrow and Friday."
