Rockport — Runners and walkers rekindled their passion for moving Saturday morning, Feb. 16, with Jake Feener, 24, of Lincolnville, and Alisa Long, 32, of Bar Harbor being the fastest during the fourth annual “LUV ME" 5-kilometer road race.

The race, hosted by the Penobscot Bay YMCA, benefited the children served by “Go! Malawi” and its founder, Midcoast native Janet Littlefield.

Forty-five people were involved in the event as a runner, walker or supporter on a cold, cloudy, 34-degree morning.

The "LUV ME" course was a beautiful run/walk with rolling hills through neighborhoods starting near the YMCA and passing by the post office and library to the Belted Galloway cows before it looped back to the YMCA up Chestnut Street and through Greenfield Estates.

The race was hosted by “Go! Malawi” area runners Julie Sells, Rebecca Jacobs, Troy Peasley, Russ Wolfertz, Andrew Bonarrigo and Reade Brower. To join the team's next destination marathon and half-marathon in Savannah, Ga. on Dec. 9, 2013 email: reade@freepressonline.com.
