Author visits ‘the vault’ at WORKS
Searsport — WORKS gallery and fiber shop, 21 East Main St./Route 1, will host a reading and signing by Jennifer Richard Jacobson Saturday, May 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. The author will share her Young Adult novel set in Maine — including the bookstore itself.
In “Small as an Elephant,” Jack, abandoned by his mother in a campground in Bar Harbor, tries to find his way back to his home in Massachusetts. Along the way, struggling to survive without money, warm clothing or adults, he passes through places the Maine reader will recognize including Bar Harbor, Ellsworth, LL Bean’s, Fort Knox and Searsport, where he spends two hours locked in a vault in a bookstore that was once a bank — WORKS is that bookstore.
Everyone is invited to meet the author and visit the vault. Coming up at WORKS, there will be a comic book swap meet Saturday, May 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information on either event, call Karen Jelenfy at 899-5988.
