Bath — The Belfast field hockey team, fresh off its first and only loss of the campaign 24 hours prior, made quick work of host Morse of Bath on Friday, Oct. 7 to the tune of a 6-1 victory.
The Lions held a 5-1 edge at halftime and were led offensively by Kylie Nelson (3 goals, assist), Lindsay Bruns (goal), Victoria Curtis (goal), Alia Wallace (goal), Anna Baiungo (3 assists) and Kelsey Mehuren (assist).
Vanessa St. Pierre scored the lone goal for the Shipbuilders late in the first half.
Morgan Fernald made one save on two shots in the cage for the Lions, while Sophie Wilson made 17 saves on 31 shots in goal for the Shipbuilders.
Belfast lost its first game of the season 1-0 to Gardiner on Thursday, Oct. 6. Thus, the Lions played back-to-back road games in 24 hours.
Belfast will wrap its regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 11 against visiting Erskine Academy of South China. The Lions also will participate in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference championships on Thursday, Oct. 13 at Thomas College in Waterville.
