BAHS holds Sept. 11 memorial assembly
On Wednesday, Sept. 11, the Belfast Area High School chapter of the National Honor Society held its 12th annual memorial assembly of the 9-11 attacks.
Co-Advisor Pam Lynam introduced the assembly and the National Anthem was sung by Senior Autumn Stupca. Co-Advisor Molly Ross then addressed the student body, stressing that the emphasis of the assembly was the commemoration of the first responders, fire fighters, police, and other service men and women who stepped up in the face of this tragedy.
After that, National Honor Society President Evan Schweikert detailed a brief synopsis of the events that occurred 12 years ago, again emphasizing the values of community service, embodying the American ideal of charity, service and unity. The assembly ended with Math Teacher Diana Leighton singing "America the Beautiful."
