BAHS links athletes blanked by Black Bears

Augusta — The Belfast Area High School golf team was blanked 9-0 against host Maranacook of Readfield Sept. 4 at the Augusta Country Club.

The Black Bears shut out the visiting Lions to remain unbeaten on the young season. Maranacook earned the win with a four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total of 173 to 211.

The Black Bears swept the Lions in all six individual matches, while Maranacook's Luke Ruffing shot 40 to earn medalist honors.

The individual results, with Belfast golfers listed first, were: Tim Sticht (47) lost to Ruffing (40); Larry Dyer (47) lost to Cam Brochu (42); Alex Fritz (54) lost to Matt Delmer (47); Grant Starrett (63) lost to Tucker Whitman (50); Logan Mitchell (65) lost to Bailey Clark (44); and Doyle Bailey (67) lost to Connor Ireland (53).

In junior varsity play, Allen Alley (70) lost to Matt Gyrogy (48); Ethan Campbell (74) lost to Adam Brooks (56); and Josh Adams (71) lost to Kevin Johnson (54).
