Searsport — A 30-year-old guest at the Bait's Motel racked up several charges after police say he attempted to enter another guest's motel room while intoxicated and caused a disturbance Friday night, June 20.

Thomas J. Sullivan, 30, of Belfast, was arrested and charged with operating after suspension, criminal mischief and criminal trespass following the alleged incident. In addition, Searsport Police Chief Dick LaHaye said Sullivan had a warrant for unpaid fines.

LaHaye said Sullivan was staying at the Route 1 motel Friday night and went out for a brief time, and the trouble started when he returned to the motel later that evening.

"Mr. Sullivan, apparently, being somewhat under the influence, tried to go into someone else's room and created a disturbance," said LaHaye Monday, June 23.

LaHaye said no one was hurt and Sullivan did not damage any property, but the alleged incident frightened the room occupants, triggering a call to police.

As a result, Sullivan spent the remainder of the night at the Waldo County Jail.

"He has been banned from the hotel," added LaHaye.
