Luckily, we are in a split- bedrooms upstairs, have some time to get life preservers at any time and not have to look at them everyday to be constantly reminded that key Belfast Officials are drowning us with greedy intent with realtors pushing the sale without stream or flood zone disclosure. All four of us who have bought the only four houses for sale on Seaview Terrace since 2010 have been from out of state- New Jersey, Alaska, Florida and Maryland. I was adamant to the realtor that I did not want any water issues, have in writing where I refused a home because of a disclosed stream, I paid for a house inspection, no stream mentioned or the need for immediate stabilization, lot is only 1/4 acre...I have become poison for trying to save my home. Came here to escape abuse and safely begin again with my children. So much for LePage's pledge for domestic abuse as we survive and crawl here tro be mentally slaughtered and endangered by key officials after a life of hell.
I'm not too sure about this type of thing but I don't think having the life preservers in the closets is a good idea. As the water rises, the pressure from the water would make it near impossible to get the closet door open. At a minimum I'd have them hanging over the bed posts where they could be grabbed quickly. Probably the best bet would be to just wear them constantly throughout the storm.
Praying the rain estimates for Sandy are accurate at Seaview Terrace, Belfast. The unethical and denial of Belfast City Planner- Wayne Marshall, City Manager- Joe Slocum, ALL of City Council, and City Attorney to use the private property of Seaview Terrace without any rights of away or easements as a stormwater outlet path from miles and miles away is beyond a threat, it is an instant destruction reality. Every inch of precipitation equals one foot of water draining into Seaview Terrace. As you drive up and down RTE 1 South and North- Seaview Terrace is about 1/4 mile past the "Bypass" on the right of of Rte 1 North. There are several culverts forcing the water to us from all sides. The biggest is where the huge tall pine is at the top of Seaview Terrace, the white ranch visible is most vulnerable. In 2009 the 6 ft? in diameter culvert overflowed and almost took her car. Joe Slocum said it could have knocked her house off it's foundation. All residents are in danger. The stream is almost dry now, take a look. You can pull over there and see the culvert- compare to before and after the storm. That water will be torrent in high volume flow for many, many days. The horrible treatment and intimidation used by these official during my 19 month and counting pleas and factual research can be viewed at my white collar bully blog- www.belfastbulliesblogspot.com. I have life preservers hanging in my children's bedroom closets. Last year, Emergency Management of Waldo County spoke at a City Hall Meeting, Everyone was given the maps I drew of the disastrous water forced to us. I spoke prior to Dale in the open to the public, Mayor Ash attempted to stop my pleas. He appeased me by saying lets see what transpires when EMO, Dale Rowley, speaks his agenda. NO ONE SPOKE OF SEAVIEW TERRACE OR ASKED ONE QUESTION. Dale did tell me that my hand drawn map was very good and he could offer me a kit. I told him a kit was going to help the drowning of our neighborhood. His hands were tied. A MIRROR OF EVERY OTHER MEETING I HAVE ATTENDED. SHUT DOWN, INTIMIDATED AND SHUT OUT WITH ATTEMPTS TO MAKE ME SEEM OVER ANXIOUS, AND PER OUR CITY ATTORNEY, BILLY KELLY, "A SPORT FOR ME". EVERY STORM AND SPRING THAW A GAME OF ROULETTE WHERE CITY OFFICIALS ABOVE TAKE AIM WITHOUT CONSCIENCE.
Sincerely,
Laurie Allen, 17 Seaview Terrace, Belfast, laurieallen55@msn.com
