Belfast Area Peewee Football sign-up Sept. 8
Belfast — Sign-up for children who wish to play youth football will be Monday, Sept. 8 at 6 p.m., outside, rain or shine, at Belfast Area High School.
Children must be ages 8 to 13 or in third through seventh grades to participate. Every child will make a team. Bring a birth certificate, with proof of heath insurance, to the sign-up.
Everyone must sign a permission form each year. If a child already is on a team, they should come to sign-ups to complete paperwork.
New players must have a physical examination before their first contact practice. If a child has had a physical any time this year, provide a copy at the sign-up. If one is a returning player, physicals are required every other year, so if a child's physical is two years old then a new physical form is required. This requirement may change to yearly physicals next year.
There is no charge for a child to play but the league needs volunteers. The league is looking for coaches for one and possibly two teams. The league also needs assistants for teams. The coaches and others involved in the league are volunteers and help is needed to keep the league available to youth who want to participate. Help also is needed with the scoreclock, yard markers, referees and concession.
For more information, call Lewis Dyer Jr. and Margo Dyer at 338-3180 and, if they are unavailable, leave a message and the Dyers will call back as soon as possible. Also contact the league through the inbox on the program's Facebook pages.
