Belfast area peewee football sign-ups Sept. 10
Belfast — Sign-ups for youngsters who wish to play youth football will be Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. at Belfast Area High School, outdoors, rain or shine.
All children must be ages 8 to 13 or in third through seventh grades to participate. Everyone makes a team. Youngsters should bring a birth certificate, along with proof of heath insurance, to sign-ups.
Everyone must sign a permission form each year. If a child is already on a team, if possible, they should come to the sign-ups unless their coach has contacted them with a meeting to complete the paperwork.
All new players must have a physical examination before their first contact practice. If one has had a physical any time this year, provide a copy at sign-ups. If a child is a returning player, physicals are required every other year, so if a physical is two years old then a new physical form is required. This requirement may change to yearly physicals next year.
There is no charge for a child to play but the league needs volunteers. The league is looking for coaches for one and perhaps two teams. The league also needs assistant coaches for other teams.
The coaches and others involved in this league are volunteers and help is needed to keep the league available to all youth who want to participate. Help also is needed with the clock, yard markers, referees and concessions.
