Belfast Civil War cemetery walk

Megan Pinette, Belfast historian, will lead a walk through Grove Cemetery (upper Main Street in Belfast) on Saturday, Aug. 10. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg and this walk will highlight soldiers and prominent citizens of the Civil War period. Grove Cemetery is the final resting place for more than 200 Civil War veterans. The newly restored chapel in Grove Cemetery, which was built in 1917, will be open to visitors from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Also visit the Civil War exhibit at the Belfast Museum, 10 Market Street.
Meet at the two angel monuments. The walk begins at 1 p.m. and is free of charge and open to the public. Rain date is August 11. For more information call 338-9229 or email email@example.com.
