Belfast named top small town destination for 2014
Belfast — Belfast has been named one of the 10 “great small towns” to visit in 2014 by msn.com.
According to the description on msn.com, “Belfast's stately main street runs toward a calm harbor filled with big boats. The boats — motor yachts and aging wooden schooners — are thicker than ever thanks to a new marina that is bringing the town jobs and an air of prosperity.”
It continues by saying “Walk into Chase's Daily — seriously, the food is great — and you'll see farmers, fishermen, and the drop out executives who come here to raise their kids sharing pots of black coffee. This is as friendly as Maine gets.”
Camden Hills Realty praised the designation of Belfast as a top destination this year for travelers.
“The article is a testament to the hard work and progress the community has made over the last several years,” John Burgess owner of Camden Hills Realty said in an email to Courier Publications.
Other towns named in the article include Kingfield, Maine; Old Chatham, N.Y.; Mexico Beach, Fla.; Terlingua, Texas; Ely, Minn.; Whitefish, Mont.; Afton, Wyo.; Groveland, Calif.; and Point Reyes Station, Calif.
