Belfast shakes for the cameras
The people of Belfast took to Main Street Friday afternoon, March 8, to do the "Harlem Shake," a dance that has exploded in popularity through YouTube videos. The event was filmed by Ned Lightner, which Our Town Belfast plans to use footage of on its website.
Mike Hurley, who orchestrated the event, said he organized the Main Street dance spontaneously, as a fun activity for the City of Belfast.
Dozens of people turned out in costumes and carrying props, which attracted a crowd of on-lookers. The group shut down Main Street between its intersections with High Street and Church Street for half an hour beginning at 4 p.m.
