Belfast's spring clean-up gearing up
Belfast — The city is gearing up for its annual spring clean-up with the deadline for collection April 30.
Crews will pick up material placed beside the road, not in the ditch or in the road, at homes within the Route 1 bypass. There will be only one pick-up per home, and no return trips.
All materials must be in separate piles or they will not be picked up.
Yard rakings, leaves and similar materials can be placed in one pile. Wood and branches, no longer than 4 feet and no heavier than 40 pounds, should be placed in a separate pile.
All of the materials must be ready for pick up no later than April 30. Garbage, household refuse, white goods and lumber will not be collected.
The purpose of the spring clean-up is to keep culverts, catch basins and storm drains clear of debris. Anyone with questions about the spring clean-up can contact Public Works Director Bob Richards at 338-2375 Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
