Bergey, daughters on ‘WERU Family Hour’

Apr 02, 2014
Mary Bergey of Warren and her daughters may be heard this Saturday morning, April 5, on WERU-FM.

Orland — The "WERU Family Radio Hour" with Belfast’s Scot Cannon will feature blues singer Mary Bergey and her daughters, Mary Ellen and Shannon Johnson, of Warren Saturday, April 5, at 10 a.m. The show may be heard at 89.9 and 99.9 FM and streaming live at weru.org.

Bergey and her daughters come from a long line of singers. Bergey's parents sang and harmonized all the time at home and in bands when she was growing up, and she still sings with sisters Laura, Annette and younger brother Michael. Both Bergey's daughters have been singing since they were 2. The first song the girls remember singing in church was "You are My Sunshine."

One of the songs they will sing on the “Family Hour” will be "Growing Up.” This is the song Shannon wrote with her mother about the pains of growing up and away from her family and the expectations they both have about the future. They have sent the song to the "Ellen" show, and are still waiting to hear back. Shannon will not be leaving home for a while; she is 13 and her sister Mary Ellen is 9.
