Belfast — A Belfast man was taken to the hospital the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 27, after a vehicle struck his bicycle at the intersection of Cross and Main streets.

Belfast Police Chief Mike McFadden said Jamie Grotton, 32, was heading to work on his bicycle when the accident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. McFadden said the driver of a Honda Element, Marjorie Lewis of Swanville, made a right turn in front of Grotton, striking his bicycle with the front passenger-side tire of the vehicle, which launched Grotton across the hood of the vehicle before he struck the pavement.

McFadden said Grotton complained of pain at the scene of the accident and was taken to Waldo County General Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Belfast Fire Department and Ambulance assisted at the scene.
