Blood family holds 42nd reunion

Courtesy of: Blood family Cameron Blood received one of three Blood family scholarships at the family's 42nd reunion July 8.

Three scholarships were awarded at the annual Blood reunion held Sunday, July 8, at the home of James and Kahsie Blood Paradis in West Newfield. Cameron Blood, a 2012 graduate of Hampden Academy, is the son of Kim and Clayton Blood Jr. of Hampden, and grandson of Barbara and Clayton Blood Sr. of Searsport. Cam is also the great-grandson of the the late Mary and Milo Blood, formerly of Knox. He will attend the University of Maine/Orono in the fall, majoring in education.

Emily Blood, a 2012 graduate of Belfast Area high School, is the daughter of Dale and Millie-Jo Blood of Belfast and Shelley Blood of Searsmont. Emily is also the granddaughter of David and Irene Blood of Morrill, and great-granddaughter of the late Robert and Nellie Blood, formerly of Morrill. Emily will attend the University of Maine/Orono,majoring in veterinary medicine.

The third recipient is Rafe P. Blood, son of Michelle and Rafe Blood Jr. of Colorado, and grandson of Linda and Rafe Blood Sr. of New Hampshire. He is also the great-grandson of the late Kenneth and Mabel Blood, formerly of New Hampshire. He is attending Santa Monica College in California, majoring in film and cinema production.

The reunion auction and donations from family members help to defray the cost of the scholarships. After lunch, a business meeting was held, with Stanley Blood presiding. Becky Blood Vachon read the minutes of the 2011 reunion and gave the treasurer's report. Introductions of the families and gifts to the following were given: Oldest man: Clayton Blood Sr; oldest woman, Edna Blood; youngest child, Hazel Paradis; largest family, Archie Blood family, 18 in attendance; and traveled the farthest, Clayton Blood Jr. from Beddington.

Christine Blood Patton reported on the new project -- the Blood reunion T-shirt. Sales were brisk and many were ordered. Sherri Blood Berk reported that there were still a few cookbooks for sale. After much discussion, Wendi Blood DiSilva volunteered to look into Range Pond in Poland for site of the 2013 reunion. After adjournment of the meeting, a rousing game of horseshoes was won by Sherri Blood Berk and James Paradis.
