Bowdoin bound: Lions, Mustangs excel in KVAC meets

Belfast, Mount View athletes earn top places, times, height, distances

Brunswick — Waldo County high school indoor track student-athletes were embroiled in competition over the weekend in two separate Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference regular-season meets at Bowdoin College.

Belfast participated in a meet on Friday night, Dec. 21 and Mount View competed on Saturday morning, Dec. 22, both at the same venue.

Dec. 21 meet

The girls team scores were: Waterville 137, Brunswick 100, Lawrence of Fairfield 77, Belfast 26, Cony of Augusta 24, Medomak Valley of Waldoboro 18, Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield 16, Oceanside of Rockland/Thomaston 10, Camden Hills 9, Morse of Bath 8 and Lincoln Academy of Newcastle 2.

The boys team scores were: Brunswick 105.5, Waterville 105, Belfast 88.5, Lawrence 31, Cony 28, Lincoln Academy 21, Camden Hills 20, Maine Central Institute 14, Morse 14 and Oceanside 6.

The individual Belfast results from the Dec. 21 meet were:

Boys 4x800-meter relay — 3, Belfast, 9:53.96.

Boys 55-meter hurdles — 3, Grant Richards, 8.71; 4, Andrew Violette, 9.91; and 6, Evan Schweikert, 10.49.

Boys 55 meters — 4, Travis Tufo, 7.33;7, Alex Canning, 7.46; and 43, Bronsen Stevens, 9.36.

The girls team scores were: Winslow 93, Edward Little of Auburn 84, Mount Ararat of Topsham 78, Messalonskee of Oakland 58, Erskine Academy of South China 44, Lewiston 32, Skowhegan 21, Gardiner 14 and Mount View of Thorndike 2.

The boys team scores were: Edward Little 79.33, Mount Ararat 78, Lewiston 59, Messalonskee 58, Raiders 48, Erskine Academy 38.33, Gardiner 20.33, Skowhegan 20, Mount Blue 17 and Mount View 12.
