Brian Trott Stone
Brian Trott Stone, 87, of Belfast, died Aug. 7, 2014, at Tall Pines Health Care facility in Belfast. He was born Jan. 28, 1927, in Springfield, Mass., a son of the late Carl R. Stone and Alma M. (White) Stone.
Brian was a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute of Worcester, Mass., with a degree in Chemical Engineering. His career was practiced in the paper industry, in marketing at Strathmore Paper Company in Massachusetts and at International Paper Company in New York City. After retirement from International Paper, he formed his own company, Argentina, for management consulting and development of paper products with business activity in the U.S. and Asia.
For many years, Brian and Avery summered at their cottage at Sabbathday harbor on Islesboro. Sailing from there aboard their "Wind Song" was a favorite pastime, with cruises made over East Penobscot Bay and beyond.
Brian was oft times confounding with his intelligence, formidable with his wit.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother David Lucien Stone and fraternal twin Capt. Bruce Goodwin Stone, USN.
Brian is survived by his wife, Avery Booth Stone of Belfast and his dear cousin Carlene Griffin and her daughter Jamie Griffin; nephews and nieces Brian D. Stone of Pensacola, Fla.; Signe Errebo (Stone) Dahlgren of Ellicot, Md.; Graeme Bruce Stone of Pensacola, Fla.; Susan (Stone) Wickwire of West Redding, Conn.; Nancy (Stone) Nelson of Hampden, Mass.; and Jonathan Stone of Brimfield, Mass.
Services and interment will be private.
