Monroe — A Brooks couple were taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center Monday, Feb. 10, after they were ejected from their vehicle.

Wayne Curtis, 25, and his wife Crystal, 28, were driving east on Route 139 in Monroe shortly before 8 a.m. when Wayne lost control of his 2000 Chevrolet Tracker, Lt. Jason Trundy of the Waldo County Sheriff's Office said.

The vehicle crossed the center line and struck a snowbank, which caused the Tracker to roll over. Both Curtis's were ejected through the sunroof of the vehicle, Trundy said.

When deputies and emergency personnel arrived at the scene, Wayne was pinned underneath the vehicle. Emergency personnel were able to lift the vehicle off of Wayne and he and his wife were taken by ambulance to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Trundy said Wayne suffered serious injuries while Crystal's injuries were less severe.

Neither of the Curtis's were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The Tracker was destroyed and the crash is continuing to be investigated.
