Brooks Town News

The Brooks Park Boosters would like to thank The Leaky Boot Jug Band and everyone who came out to Picnic in the Park on Tuesday. The first year of this free outside event was a great success. Thanks to the volunteers and the Unity Foundation for giving us money for this event. We hope to do more free concerts in the park next summer.
Next at the Marsh River Theater is the show "Gee Haw Haw Haw" the third installment of the He Haw style show. With country music and jokes that will be sure to please the whole family. The show will run for one weekend only, September 13 and 14 at 7:30 and Sunday September 16 at 2pm. Call the Box office for tickets at 722-4110.
The Brooks co-op is getting closer to opening in the old Paul's True Value building. The group has been working on setting up the legal part of starting a business. The marsh River Co-Op will feature locally grown vegetables and meats and also feature local crafts and other goods. I can't wait for it to be open.
FUTURE MSAD 3 will hold their 10th annual golf tournament on Saturday, September 14th, at Country View Golf Club in Brooks. Registration starts at 7 a.m. with a shot gun start at 8 a.m.
This fundraising group is still accepting teams - $50 per person or $200 for a team of four. The price includes a continental breakfast, 18 holes of golf, golf cart use, lunch and door prizes.
Net proceeds from the 2013 golf tournament will benefit the current FUTURE campaign for a concession/restroom and storage facility at Mount View in Thorndike. To register or for more information, contact Shirley Caler at 342-5993 or Vera McCormick at 948-2294.
