Brooks Town News
Brooks was hit hard with the loss of three people in November. First with the death of Ellen Coulsey and then two weeks later with the death of Leif Weaver and then the following week we lost Bob Wright. All three of these people were wonderful people who were involved in our community and they will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with all three families.
Don't miss out on the Country Christmas concert at the Brooks Congregational Church Sunday December 15 at 5pm in the church. Come hear traditional and non-traditional holiday music sung by your fellow community members
Community Pot Luck
The monthly pot luck will be Sunday December 15 at the Varney building. normally the pot luck is at 6pm but because of the holiday concert in the church the pot luck will follow the concert after it is over. so why not come on down and enjoy both. bring a dish to share and drop it off in the Varney before heading over to the church to be filled with holiday cheer.
Historic Society Calendars
The Brooks Historical Society has a new calendar out for 2014. This is the eleventh year for the calendar and as usual it features great pictures of our town. The calendars are on sale at the town office for $10.
If you have been in the village this week you might think that they are filming a remake of E.T. with the front of the store covered in plastic. As it turns out all that plastic is covering what will be an expanded store.
The farmers market which happens every Saturday, will end for the year this year, with its last day on December 21. The market has been located in what will be the new home of the Marsh River Co-op and the old Paul's True Value. The market opens at 9am and ends at 1pm. Fresh cut Brooks Christmas trees will also be available at the market in December.
