A Burnham man was arrested on a warrant for multiple charges related to the theft of a battery from a wood-processing machine in Unity in October.

Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton of the Waldo County Sheriff's Office said Harold Duprey, 29, of Burnham, was arrested on a warrant on Dec. 7. Trafton said the warrant was related to a slew of charges against Duprey from an incident in October.

Trafton said police were contacted by the owner of a wood lot in Unity who told them Duprey stole a battery out of a wood processing machine in October. The owner of the machine caught Duprey in the act of stealing the battery, but Duprey was able to get away, Trafton said.

Deputies were able to track Duprey down and recover the battery he had stolen. Trafton said officers charged Duprey with theft, possession of burglar tools, criminal mischief and driving to endanger.

Duprey is being held at Two Bridges Regional Jail.

A court date for Duprey was not listed.
