Call for Young Composers' contest
Blue Hill — The Bagaduce Music Lending Library's 21st annual Young Composers' Festival will be held Saturday, April 22, at the Bay School. Young composers entering this year must send their compositions to Bagaduce postmarked no later than Feb. 10.
Launched in 1996, the annual Young Composers' Competition and Festival encourages students to create new instrumental or vocal works and develop their composing and notation skills. This valuable exchange of ideas with professional musicians and educators provides students with a venue where they can interact with their peers, who share their interest in composing.
The Young Composer’s Competition is open to all Maine students high school age and younger who love to write original music. Students can win prize money for their creative efforts, $200 for first place, $125 for second place and $75 for third place. Three winners will be chosen in age group 13 and younger; and three winners in age group 14 and older.
