Calling all zombies
Prospect — The Friends of Fort Knox’s Fright at the Fort seeks volunteers to shuffle through the dark passageways of the fort as terrifying zombies during one of Maine’s largest Halloween events. Volunteers unable to muster the appropriate ghoulish spirit may help out by serving as group tour guides, makeup artists or security helpers.
Fright at the Fort has attracted more than 10,000 visitors in the past and event organizers hope to top, that number this year. It will be conducted Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 19, 20, 26 and 27 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. (the last tour begins 8:30 p.m.).
Volunteers interested in helping out are encouraged to contact the Friends of Fort Knox at 469-6553 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Revenue generated from Fright at the Fort goes to preservation projects for the State Historic Site.
This marks the 13th year of Fright and it will be celebrated with a special fireworks display the second night, Oct. 20, at 9:20 p.m., viewable from the Bucksport waterfront. The fireworks are being sponsored by the Friends of Fort Knox and coincide with the Bucksport Chamber of Commerce’s annual Ghostport activities that day. Two additional sponsors of the fireworks are the Atlas fireworks company and WKIT radio, which will provide a musical simulcast during the fireworks display.
