Camden National names Lawrence Sterrs vice chairman
Camden — The board of directors of Camden National Corp. (NASDAQ: CAC) announced Jan. 10 that Lawrence (Larry) J. Sterrs of Belfast has been named vice chairman of the board of directors.
Sterrs was elected to the company’s board of directors in January 2015 and serves as a member of its compensation and technology committees. He also recently became a member and vice chairman of the board of directors for Camden National Bank, the company’s wholly owned subsidiary.
Sterrs is chairman of the board and former CEO of UniTek Inc. and its telecom subsidiary, UniTel Inc., which offers high-speed internet and phone services in a number of Maine communities. He has served since 2001 as chairman and CEO of the Unity Foundation, which supports nonprofits that serve both community and statewide needs.
Sterrs began his career working with ConTel Corp. where he held various positions in operations and management across the Northeast, including responsibility for legislative and regulatory issues, as well as network design and planning.
From 1991 to 1994, Sterrs worked at Berry Dunn McNeil and Parker LLC as manager of telecommunication consulting. He has also served as vice chairman of the Maine Telecommunications Infrastructure Steering Committee and currently is a board member of the Telecommunications Association of Maine.
