Caribbean evening on the Bay

Jul 31, 2012
Fort Point Lighthouse overlooks Penobscot Bay.

Stockton Springs — The annual steel drum concert at Fort Point Lighthouse is set for Monday, Aug. 13 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The Blue Hill-based Flash in the Pans Community Steel Band will play a diverse assortment of Caribbean influenced contemporary music for everyone’s enjoyment.

This trip to the Caribbean is just a short drive away, so everyone is invited to dig out their tropical shirts, practice their dance moves, pack and picnic supper and lawn seating and head to Fort Point State Park. The Stockton Springs Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will be selling refreshments to raise funds for uniforms and camp.

Fort Point Lighthouse is located at the tip of Cape Jellison; come early to check out the remains of the Fort Pownal blockhouse, take a walk on the beach or do a little fishing off the spacious pier overlooking Sandy Point. For more information, contact Jeri Cole at 567-3356. The concert is hosted by the Bureau of Parks and Lands.
