Carmel man allegedly punches, clubs victim
Troy — Police said a Carmel man struck a woman with his fist and a club Jan. 7 during an argument.
Corey Gerry, 31, was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault, Class D, after Waldo County Sheriff's Deputy Cassandra McDonald responded to a Ward Hill Road residence in Troy for a reported domestic disturbance.
The victim of the assault told police she arrived at the residence and was met by Gerry. A verbal argument ensued and escalated when Gerry allegedly punched the victim in the face and struck her with a small club, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
Police said the victim was able to leave the residence and contact law enforcement. Her injuries did not require medical attention.
Gerry is being held on $300 cash bail until he is arraigned.
