Centennial series comes to end
Belfast — The Colonial Theatre's Centennial Celebration — a year-long sampling of 100 years of movies — will conclude Monday, Dec. 3. The series began in January with films from 1912, the year the Colonial opened its doors.
The final free screenings will be Academy Award-winning movies from last year: George Clooney’s “The Descendants” at 6:45 p.m., which won Best Screenplay; “The Artist,” last year’s Best Picture winner, at 7 p.m.; and “Hugo” at 7:15 p.m. Back in April, during the Colonial's 100th anniversary, the cinema screened Georges Méliès' "La voyage dans la lune (A Voyage to the Moon)"; the 1902 film served as inspiration for “Hugo,” which won for art direction, cinematography and sound.
