He enjoyed spending time at Sanborn Pond with family and friends, snowmobiling with Bruce and Dave, camping and traveling.
Special thanks to everyone at Waldo County General Hospital and at Maine Medical Center for the care given to Charlie while he was at the hospital.
The grandsons, nephews and nieces remember the smile, the laugh, lobster feeds down at the cabin and snowmobiling.
His wife will always remember the wonderful years they had together, their adventures traveling; going on dead-end or dirt roads where no one else would ever go, the camp, his private jokes, his enthusiastic laugh and holding hands.
The family would like to share the following poem in his memory:
"He Only Takes the Best
God saw that he was getting tired, A cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him and whispered, "Come with Me." With tearful eyes, I watched him suffer, And saw him fade away. Although I loved him dearly, I could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes 'the best'."
Rest in peace, Charlie, with the angels by your side.
Charlie requested no services, but there will be a celebration of his life at the VFW Hall in Northport on June 1.
