Children’s concert at Belfast library
Belfast — Rob Duquette will perform a children’s concert Wednesday, July 9, at 7 p.m. at Belfast Free Library, 106 High St. Duquette is a multi-instrumentalist musician with an emphasis on drums and percussion.
A full-time musician and composer since 1998, Duquette maintains an active gigging career, splitting most of his time between Boston, Portland and his own Gameroom Studios in Saco, where he teaches drums, percussion and guitar. A classically trained percussionist, Duquette also teaches World Music, African Drumming, and American Popular Music at the University of New England.
Duquette’s children’s music features re-arranged classics and many original fun songs that carry messages from teeth brushing to being kind. He sings and performs on ukulele, guitar, xylophone, and many percussion instruments from around the globe.
On Tuesday, July 8, children can meet at 10:30 a.m. in the library’s Abbott Room to make a rain stick to bring along to the concert. These programs are free and open to the public. For more information, contact the library at 338-3884, ext. 24.
