Children’s shows at The Playhouse
Belfast — May offers a flowering of youth theater at The Playhouse, 107 Church St. Space is limited, so reservations are required by calling 338-5777.
The month begins with a one-weekend-only production presented by the Junior Children’s Theater. "Rumpelstiltskin" will be performed Friday and Saturday, May 2 and 3, at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, May 4, at 3 p.m.
The Playhouse Children's Theater Company will open a two-weekend run of yet another play about a dragon Friday, May 9. “Donald the Dragon,” written by Dorothy Carr, will be presented Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.; and Sundays at 3 p.m. through May 18.
Both shows are directed by Mary Weaver, and admission to either is a suggested donation of $5 at the door, which will open 15 minutes before curtain. The shows are funded in part by the Basil Burwell Foundation, a supporter of Belfast Maskers for 20 years. The Playhouse is supported by CLAP! Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit.
