Chocolate, art, music at Åarhus
Belfast — Åarhus Gallery invites everyone to enjoy an evening of chocolate tasting, music browsing and conviviality Friday, Dec. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. Dean's Sweets, makers of delicious hand-dipped truffles and chocolate bars, and winner of a 2011 Best of Portland Award, will provide samples of their chocolates as the solo piano of Clayton Clemetson calms the mind to take in the “Holiday Extravaganza” of small artworks and crafts assembled for localvore gift giving.
Clemetson’s original compositions will spice up the downtown space and Dean's Sweets will tantalize taste buds at a tasting table offering chocolate with flavors including Brandy, Maple, Cayenne and Salted Caramel; truffles; and chocolate bars including Brandied Orange Peel, Mocha Latte and Maine Potato Chip.
The jam-packed “Holiday Extravaganza” show features smaller artworks and a wide range of creative crafts priced with gift giving in mind. More than 70 talented Maine artists from throughout the Midcoast and beyond are represented in a dazzling variety of media including pottery, poetry and painting, collage, etching and photography, woodblock prints, turned wood, felted and knitted fiber works, assemblage, cards, calendars, ornaments, glass plate images of Maine, jewelry, music and more.
Åarhus Gallery, 50 Main St., is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (to 7 p.m. Fridays this month) and Mondays by chance. Åarhus will close at 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24.
